2008 Razzie Award Nominations

Razzie Awards LogoBad movies. Bad actors. Really bad choices. Each year, the Razzies — the “Golden Raspberry Awards” — pull a bizarro version of the Oscars, honoring the very worst in film. And they’ve just announced their nominees for their 28th annual celebration. If Lindsay Lohan can sober up long enough to drive, she’s invited. And if Eddie Murphy can quickly figure out his marital status, hell, he should come too.

Loopy Lindsay’s I Know Who Killed Me received nine nominations, including two(!) Worst Actress nods for the demure Ms. Lohan, one for each role in the film. (We poked fun at that one in August.) Diane Keaton is nominated for the dreadful Because I Said So, and I might have been rooting for her a week ago… but since she cursed on Good Morning America, I love her again.  See the Razzie Worst Actress nominees

Eddie Murphy’s messy Norbit pulled off eight nominations, and Murphy bested Lohan with three(!) acting nominations: Worst Actor (as Norbit), Worst Supporting Actor (as Mr. Wong), and Worst Supporting Actress (as the rotund Rasputia).

I happen to be a Murphy admirer and feel his dedication to character — no matter how stupid the role — is something to respect. So let’s just give him only one of the Razzies and give Worst Actor to, say, Jim Carrey for The Number 23.  See the Razzie Worst Actor nominees

The Worst Picture nominees? The aforementioned I Know Who Killed Me and Norbit, along with Bratz, Daddy Day Camp (a Worst Sequel nominee), and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. All winners will be announced on Saturday, February 23. Good luck — um, bad luck — to all the nominees!
