As a Boston-based outlet, we’re all about the IFFB — that’s the Independent Film Festival of Boston, a cinema savior in a city that had been grossly lacking in such celebration.
We’ll have plenty o’ coverage April 22 to 28 but, for now, here’s what’s jumping out at me immediately from the festival’s just-announced 7th annual lineup.
Narrative Features
:: (500) Days of Summer, Marc Webb
:: Big Fan, Robert Siegel (The Wrestler screenwriter)
:: The Brothers Bloom, Rian Johnson (I’m guessing this will be the Opening Night feature)
:: In the Loop, Armando Iannucci
:: Summer Hours, Olivier Assayas (Irma Vep, Demonlover)
:: The World’s Greatest Dad, Bobcat Goldthwait (yes, Bobcat Goldthwait; starring Robin Williams)
Documentaries
:: Art & Copy, Doug Pray (Surfwise, Scratch)
:: Best Worst Movie, Michael Stephenson (it’s the making of Troll 2!)
:: Crude, Joe Berlinger
:: For the Love of Movies, Gerald Peary (c’mon, it’s about film criticism. I have to.)
:: We Live In Public, Ondi Timoner
Here’s the entire IFFB 2009 lineup, courtesy the IFFB site.
