Yeah, the economy is a bitch right now. So if your plan is to stay home more and watch movies, Amazon is making it easier to supplement your Netflix fix with DVD titles you might wanna own.

The most timely portion of the price reduction is their “Halloween Event,” where they’re promising low prices on 950+ spooky, scary DVDs and Blu-ray discs. Shamefully, the #1 title on their “updated hourly” bestseller list is the Bette Midler witch comedy Hocus Pocus. (With any luck, it won’t be #1 when you click through.)
Check out the Halloween Event here.

A few items worth mentioning:

:: Anchor Bay titles are “buy one, get one free”.That includes the HalloweenEvil Dead and Phantasm movies, the original Wicker Man and Werner Herzog’s Nosferatu.

:: The Ghost House Underground Collection is 30% off. That’s eight “underground” horror films selected by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert.

:: Warner Brothers horror movies are at deep discounts. All I have to say is this: The Exorcist (The Version You’ve Never Seen)for $4.99. Come on, it’s only one of the greatest American films ever.

What? I love Hocus Pocus. Back then, Thora Birch was just a cute little kid and no one cared what Sarah Jessica Parker wore. Now, I’m covering this one too!
