Bill Maher to Host on MSNBC? Now That’s Funny

Will Bill Maher be the next guy to take an anchor’s seat at that bastion of dismal news ratings, MSNBC? If he is, he better watch his critical ass. In late August 2008, Maher, the guy behind HBO’s Real Time and the underrated Religulous, said the following about the network’s coverage of candidate Obama:

“These guys were ready to have sex with him.” Here you go, courtesy Eyeblast:

I do have faith though, that Maher would face his critics — as well as those he slammed — with his trademark confidence and snarkiness. Both of which I like, by the way. For some reason, the bastard wears ‘em well.

Word is MSNBC is looking to Maher for their 10pm slot, now inhabited by something none of us are watching, really. (How’s that for crappy blog journalism?) Jeff Bercovici at Portfolio.com tried to dig up some comments from either party and, well, no comment. Stay tuned.
