Coen Brothers’ BURN AFTER READING Red Band Trailer

Here’s the latest from Focus Features: The just-released red band trailer for Burn After Reading, the next film from our current heroes, The Coen Brothers.

As you can tell, the Coens head back to comedy territory with Burn After Reading — albeit their unique, awkward yet refined, disturbed sense of comedy. The cast is so good, it’s almost unbelievable, but that says a lot about what it must be like to work day-to-day with Joel and Ethan Coen, and what it means to be a part of their films.

THE CAST: John Malkovich plays a CIA guy with lots of secrets — secrets he’s put in a memoir that’s gone missing. Brad Pitt plays a gym dolt who’s found it. Add in Coen comedy vets George Clooney (O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Intolerable Cruelty), and Frances McDormand (Fargo, Raising Arizona, and married to Joel Coen), as well as Clooney’s Michael Clayton co-star Tilda Swinton.

NEXT FOR THE COENS: Expect more comedies from the Coens after this one, with two currently in pre-production for 2009: Hail Caesar, about a 1920s production of Julius Caesar, and A Serious Man, the tale of a Jewish professor in the 1960s with a whole slew of troubles. Some open auditions were said to have been held earlier in May.
