Demand for “The Mist” Spoiler
No big surprise that we’ve received reader requests to get into the specifics of The Mist ending, especially since it differs from Stephen King’s original novella. We just can’t do it.

Not because King — who loves the “new” ending — said anyone who discloses it should be ”hung from their neck until dead.” (Ouch.) We just don’t think it’s an upstanding idea to give away movie endings, especially those with surprise finales.
Many asked for the spoiler to The Happening, the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan thriller. We preferred to tell you where to find it. And for the excellent television series Tell Me You Love Me, we offered some character updates (not really spoilers) by hiding the details, so you’d have to scroll while holding your mouse button to reveal them.
But if you really wanna know the ending to The Mist … The Movie Spoiler has a “cut to the chase” recap, with only the ending provided. It’s quick, but it’s there. We just want to make you think about one more click before you spoil your moviegoing experience.
And for those that haven’t read Stephen King’s novella, the ending to that fine work is open-ended. You know, it makes you think and wonder. Like lots of great films and literature.

I agree the ending shouldn’t be known by anyone except those who have seen it..
I read this story a long time ago and allways wanted there to be a movie made from the short story.
Being a King fan for many years i have to admit the ending was a bit wacked
But in all honesty i think it was pretty damn good.
Just wish there had been a happy ending

There are so many King stories I’ve wanted adapted into films. The Stand is one in particular, with such a poor result…
Thanks for the support on not revealing endings. I hate it when a reviewer (I use the term loosely) says “You’ll never expect the twist at the end!” Well, now I will since you told me to look for it shithead!
Talk to you again.

Stephen King does not believe in happy endings.

From the looks of it, neither does Frank Darabont…
But I’ll say this: King does believe in the occasional “hopeful” ending, which can be pretty exciting when things are left unresolved.

(New to MeetInTheLobby… nice place!)
I haven’t seen The Mist, and spoilers don’t bother me, so I took a look at the “cut to the chase” recap. Now, I’m GLAD I haven’t seen the movie! The feeling (not the specifics, of course) reminds me of Arlington Road, which I really disliked.

Yeah, the film ending for The Mist really is a doozy. I remember how much the end of the book stuck with me, so it was interesting that the movie version was so drastically different.
And welcome to Meet In the Lobby! Glad you like it so far.
