At Sundance 2009, the real-grit Mexican-set drama Sin Nombre won two major awards — not foreign territory for writer/director Cary Joji Fukunaga, who nabbed a Student Academy Award in 2004.

With Sin Nombre (translated: “Nameless”), an overlap of stories about young Central Americans attempting to immigrate to the U.S., Fukunaga won Sundance’s Best Director award, director of photography Adriano Goldman took home the Cinematography prize and the film was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. Today, Focus Features released the first trailer for Sin Nombre, which will be released on a limited scale March 20.
