ORIGINAL POST: You may remember that I mentioned our contest queue being rather backed up. Here’s proof: The Lucky Ones, a late January DVD release by Lionsgate, is finally ready to win, right here at Meet In the Lobby.
The Lucky Ones is one of those films that barely gets into theaters — only one week, in this case — but makes an impact with those who see it. The cast alone gets your attention: Tim Robbins, Rachel McAdams (you have my attention), Michael Peña. The plot is poignant: Three soldiers take an unexpected road trip while on leave. And the movie was co-written and directed by Neil Burger, the filmmaker behind The Illusionist.

I really liked The Illusionist, so this should be a good film also, and of course I’d like to win it! “Don’t talk about a plane crashing when you’re on it” seems like quite a definitive line (from the trailer), although it looks as if their plane didn’t crash but they encountered a road trip with acquiantances they thought they’d never encounter!
