Least Creative Sequel Title Ever

I won’t keep you in suspense: The upcoming Fast & Furious has gotta be the least creative sequel title ever. Universal took the original and simply dropped all mentions of “the.” Hell, “the” is a stupid word. Articles, shmarticles.

In fact, the new title is current as hell, very SMS txt: Why not just shoot for Fst & 4Eus?

I’m not saying this strategy is dumb. It’s actually brilliant, keeping the title of this fourth entry as close as possible to the original without weighing it down with a ridiculous number (4, or IV, if you will) or some superfluous subtitle. In fact, the second entry, 2 Fast 2 Furious, is pretty effective if you follow that thinking.

And, in following that thinking, what if some of the most popular films of all time just dropped the “the”? Say ’em out loud, you’ll sound like a grunting caveman. Fun for all.

:: Good, Bad and Ugly

:: Silence of Lambs

:: Bridge on River Kwai

:: Day Earth Stood Still

And my personal favorites…

:: Lord of Rings: Fellowship of Ring

:: Lord of Rings: Return of King

Grunt.

Now on Amazon: The Fast and The Furious Trilogy on Blu-ray
