Inkblot logo for Star Wars IdentitiesHow much is too much? In the lore of everything Star Wars, that question has been asked endlessly, probably dating back to the Star Wars Holiday Special in 1978. Time to start asking again, as LucasFilm has announced a new, museum-based project entitled Star Wars Identities, an exhibition promising “A Character Driven Adventure Into Identity,” inviting visitors to “learn the components of human identity.” The show premieres in two Canadian locations: The Montreal Science Centre from April 19 to September 16, 2012 and Edmonton’s Telus World of Science, starting October 27, 2012.

And this is certainly not the first Star Wars exhibit to show up at a science museum (Hell, if the freaks from Middle Earth are valid content for a museum show, then the space is up for grabs). As Lucas has built a literal empire — okay, literal arts and entertainment empire — around his single idea for a sci-fi return to the swashbuckler, then why not extend it into education, science, expanded creative arts and interactivity. Or the psychology of ego, id and superego. Now then, Luke, tell us about your mother …
