Movie Poster Monday: FLASH OF GENIUS

Everybody loves the little guy. Especially when the little guy is brilliant, fair, honest and up against heartless corporate fat cat bastards with lots of cash. With our economic woes, can you think of a better time for a movie like this to hit America? It’s Flash of Genius, it stars Greg Kinnear, and here’s the one-sheet poster from Universal. (click on it for the biggie)

Flash of Genius One-Sheet Movie Poster

Appropriate image. A literal visual of the small man looking up at the faceless corporate giant. Kinnear plays (alert! real-life story ahead!!!) Robert Kearns, an automotive engineer in the 1960s who felt his brilliant invention was cause for applause and financial well-being. He was wrong, and thought he’d give the middle finger to the auto company for not giving him credit.

Kearns’ invention, by the way, is used in every single automobile on the road today. If you’d like to know what it is, here’s Kearns’ Wikipedia entry (beware spoilers, I suppose).

This doesn’t appear to be as heavy-duty as, say, The Insider but we can picture Kinnear as a man obsessed — especially after that fit of desperation he displayed in Little Miss Sunshine.

Also starring: Lauren Graham, Dermot Mulroney, Alan Alda

Release date: October 17, 2008
