Movie Poster Monday: New THE INCREDIBLE HULK

With the glut of media coverage around blockbuster-style comic book movies like The Incredible Hulk, we usually let others do their thing. But when we see a brooding Edward Norton, we figure there’s something good here under the surface… this one’s just been released by IGN.

The Incredible Hulk Movie Poster with Edward Norton

Unfortunately, early troubles point to big problems for this take on The Incredible Hulk, as reported late last week by The New York Times. Although Marvel chairman David Maisel said the label loves the new film (saying the Ang Lee version was like “test-driving a car”), analysts say the film doesn’t look like it will hold up.

There were — surprise! — creative differences on the film, not a shock with Edward Norton involved, especially as the script re-writer. Remember the alleged mess between Norton and Tony Kaye on American History X? Then you’ve got a dangerously competitive action market this year, with Iron Man (another Marvel title) and the Batman chapter The Dark Knight — so while there’s room for everyone, diehards will compare and contrast almost immediately. And fans have been arguing about just the now-infamous trailer.

This new The Incredible Hulk is directed by Luc Besson disciple Louis Leterrier, a veteran of just three films: The Transporter, The Transporter 2 and Jet Li’s Unleashed (also known as Danny the Dog). See you in June, Louis…
