A&E tends to choose their movies carefully — Street Thief a prime example — so we’re intrigued by this two-part version of The Andromeda Strain, a remake of the 1971 Robert Wise original. Executive producers on this one are Tony and Ridley Scott…
Great tagline! As you can see, the cast is a hodgepodge of regular TV talent, including the great Andre Braugher (The Mist) and the recently renamed Ricky Schroder… Yes, the film’s PR assures us Mr. Schroder is back to ‘Ricky’ for sound professional reasons. We woulda thought those years on NYPD Blue would’ve cemented ‘Rick,’ but oh well. The guy still has good chops.
DIRECTOR: Mikael Salomon, a bit of a journeyman TV director (Rome, Over There) better known as a veteran cinematographer (Backdraft, Arachnophobia, The Abyss)
WRITER: Robert Schenkkan, based on Michael Crichton’s bestselling novel, of course. Schenkkan was co-screenwriter on the excellent Michael Caine drama The Quiet American.
