Movie Poster Monday: TROPIC THUNDER

Here’s the deal: We’re sick of Ben Stiller. We so admire him, but his shtick is getting repetitive. Perhaps something different like the family style of Night at the Museum is his more realistic future? So we’re not including Stiller in these riotous solo posters for the comedy Tropic Thunder. Just Jack Black and Robert Downey, Jr. (click on the posters to see ‘em full size)
The genius is you have to look pretty hard to recognize these two… especially Downey, who’s playing an African American. Well, he’s playing an African American actor (Now we know better. He’s not really African American — he’s a white guy who’s undergone pigmentation surgery) who gets caught with the rest of his acting buddies in an actual military conflict. Stiller directs and is a co-writer with Idiocracy writer Etan Cohen and actor Justin Theroux.
Okay, click here for Stiller’s solo poster. See?! It ain’t as funny, is it? We do have hopes for Tropic Thunder though, if only because Downey so rarely picks a bad script these days. (Was Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang one of the most underrated movies of the past few years, or what?…)

I know! Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang was one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time. Robert Downey, Jr., please don’t ruin it with Iron Man. He can make it good, right? Right?
