Movie Poster Monday: TRUMBO
There are three ways to tell if you’re an influential writer: 1) You’re blacklisted. 2) You win an Oscar (two of ‘em, both credited years too late). 3) Metallica writes a song based on one of your books. This was the life of Dalton Trumbo (The Brave One, Spartacus, Johnny Got His Gun).
This June, Samuel Goldwyn Films will release a documentary film on Trumbo’s life, with readings, interviews and a killer lineup of stars: Joan Allen, Brian Dennehy, Paul Giamatti, Michael Douglas, Nathan Lane, Josh Lucas, Liam Neeson, David Strathairn, Donald Sutherland. Here’s the teaser movie poster. Quirky anyone?

Trumbo is based on the play of the same name by Trumbo’s son, Christopher Trumbo, and directed by Peter Askin (stage director of Hedwig and the Angry Inch). Look for a June 23 release.

Extra Credit answer:
The song is “One” off …And Justice for All.
And it’s one horrifyingly great music video utilizing footage from the 1971 film, Johnny Got His Gun.
What do I win?

You are correct on all counts. And do you also appreciate Metallica more as we all get older? I do.
I’m afraid you win nothing. Just my admiration. You can enter to win The Great Debaters if you like, though… (at least through May 19th.)
