MOVIE PREVIEW, TRAILER, NEW PHOTOS: Charlie Wilson’s War
After announcing an early release for Charlie Wilson’s War (moved from 12/25 to 12/21), the good folks at Universal have delivered a truckload of new photos promoting the movie. 37 of ‘em, to be exact.
We rummaged through and liked these:

Tom Hanks, Amy Adams and Julia Roberts.

The charming Hanks with the ubiquitous Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Master director Mike Nichols at the helm.

Nichols and Roberts. We have no idea what they’re smiling about. Could be Aaron Sorkin’s script. Might be their paychecks.

Shouldn’t Richard Gere be somewhere in this shot?

Hanks as Congressman Charlie Wilson.
LOBBY PREVIEW
Could you imagine three people successfully taking on the Soviet Union in the 1980s? It happened, and it’s so utterly bizarre it’s perfect for the big screen.
Tom Hanks plays Congressman Charlie Wilson, a good ol’ Texan who bled red, white and blue — and hated what the Reds were doing to Afghanistan. Julia Roberts is Wilson’s incredibly rich friend who convinces her political pal to take action.
Mike Nichols directs (Primary Colors, Angels in America) and the screenplay is written by Aaron Sorkin (The American President, The West Wing) — who else are you gonna get to mix biting humor and politics?

I can’t get into the tone of this thing. Is it a comedy? Is it a docudrama?
Hanks looks bad from what I’ve seen thus far.

Think satiric comedy within a dramatic setting.
And are you saying Hanks looks bad physically, or are you talking about his performance?
