New Films Announced For 2010-11: Damon, DiCaprio, Carell

Wanna know what movies to look for in the not-so-near-future? Here are some films just announced this week, which we’re lazily piling into one post.
:: The Adjustment Bureau
Star: Matt Damon
Director: George Nolfi, who also wrote the script
Plot: Loosely based on a 1954 Philip K. Dick story, the film is described as “a contemporary love story with sci-fi overtones,” about a successful Congressman (Damon) who, after meeting a ballet dancer, finds himself in a questionable reality.
Notes: Nolfi knows himself some Damon. He wrote Ocean’s 12 and The Bourne Ultimatum, and is currently set to deliver the next Bourne script for a 2010 release.
Release Date: Possibly 2011
:: Inception
Star: Leonardo DiCaprio
Director: Christopher Nolan (that Dark Knight picture)
Plot: It’s a secret. Well, it’s written by Nolan and described as a contemporary, sci-fi action film. It’s gotta be better than The Beach. Not The Beach with DiCaprio. The Beach with Ewan McGregor. Which isn’t even all that bad, so just forget it.
Notes: Ellen Page is rumored to be co-starring. Or as they say in Canada, ‘rumoured’.
Release Date: July 16, 2010
:: Dinner For Schmucks
Stars: Steve Carell, Paul Rudd
Director: Jay Roach (the Austin Powers movies, Meet the Parents, Recount)
Plot: A group of friends compete to see which can bring the biggest moron to a dinner party. Based on the 1998 French film The Dinner Game
Notes: You’ve probably read about Dinner For Schmucks here at MITL, but this baby almost didn’t get made. At one point Sacha Baron Cohen was ready to play the biggest schmuck, but he bailed. Then, financing became an issue, even as Carell and Rudd were clearing their schedules. Just this week, Paramount entered (re-entered) the project, resulting in three different organizations having a hand in the cash for this one, along with Paramount and Dreamworks.
Release Date: 2011
