NEW MOVIE PREVIEW: Leatherheads
By Norm Schrager at December 18, 2007 | 12:39 am | Print

Are you ready for some football — 1920s style? It’s Leatherheads, the upcoming comedy starring George Clooney, Renee Zellweger and John Krasinski. Between the cast, the design, the Americana feel of it all, this snazzy-looking April zinger looks hard to resist.
Check out the new Leatherheads trailer
THE STORY: Clooney plays a suave football star — the suavely named Dodge Connolly — who dreams of the big time for his gridiron team.
But they need just the right addition to make things happen. Enter sweet All-American boy Carter Rutherford (Krasinski) and his long resume of on- and off-field heroism. Spunky reporter Lexie Littleton (Zellweger) doesn’t buy Rutherford’s tales. Even as she becomes the object of affection for both pigskin players.
THE DIRECTOR: George Clooney. This is his third entry as a director, following Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Good Night, and Good Luck.

THE WRITERS: Duncan Brantley and Sports Illustrated veteran Rick Reilly. Brantley initially sold the script to Universal back in 1991… so long ago that Leatherheads was going to be Steven Soderbergh’s follow-up to sex, lies and videotape.
THE RELEASE DATE: April 4, 2008
