Trailer Tuesday: 9

Tim Burton CGI-ed Edward Scissorhands in a stop-motion animation kind of way! Okay, that sentence is pretty much a complete lie. But watch this trailer and tell me that’s wasn’t your thought:

Lie #1 – The film is actually written and directed by Shane Acker. Acker was nominated for an Academy Award back in 2006 for the short version of this film. But I think it becomes a white lie when you consider that Tim Burton is producing 9 and Pamela Pettler, who wrote for Corpse Bride (another Burton connection) , is also a 9 writer.

Truth #1 – It is in fact CGI. It happens to look somewhat like stop-motion animation due to the characteristic movement of the rag dolls. Bringing me to…

Lie #2 – Yes, those are rag dolls and not mini Edward Scissorhands. However, (I’m being very truth-like now) their world was destroyed by sharp Scissorhand-type-things or at least they’re trying to figure out if that’s what happened.

Truth #2 – This looks awesome. And for all the reasons I mentioned in Lies #1-2 and Truth #1.

Release Date: 9-9-09 (shouldn’t be hard to remember)

Starring (or should I say Voiced by): Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Crispin Glover, Christopher Plummer (Mr. Arthur Case from Inside Man), and Martin Landau.

    @Allison-

    As for Lie #1, you’re saying the studio wants us to think Burton directed it? I think it’s clear enough that it’s Shane Acker, but I do know what you mean. The Nightmare Before Christmas is the perfect example, though I’d say Burton had a hell of a lot more to do with that one.

    The song is “Welcome Home” by Coheed and Cambria which you can find here:

    I did fail to mention that Timur Bekmambetov of Wanted, Day Watch, and Night Watch is also a producer.

    LittleBigPlanet = fun and quite similar.
