Two “Killer” Endings Now on DVD
2007 brought tons of discussion about the power of movie endings. Now, the buzz around two specific finales has spilled over to their 2008 DVD releases. The first is I Am Legend (see our preview notes on the new ending), just out last Tuesday. The alternate ending we wrote about in December hit online video portals a couple of weeks ago, and is now on the DVD.
If you don’t want to wait, assuming you’ve already seen the movie, here’s the much acclaimed I Am Legend alternate ending.

The second movie is The Mist, with writer/director Frank Darabont creating a curious “new” ending veering wildly away from that of the original Stephen King book. The DVD editions of The Mist are out this Tuesday, March 25, and — hey! — even the DVD cover talks about the ending! Courtesy Pete Hammond at Maxim, who falls at the feet of just about every movie.
