Update: Top Ten Summer Movies at the Box Office
After our Tuesday summer box office report, we received requests for the Top 10. No problem.
We’ll have to update later to accommodate what should be a massive opening weekend for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. As we mentioned, Variety reported a $44 million gross for Wednesday alone.
Top Ten Summer Movies
1. Spider-Man 3: $334 million
2. Shrek the Third: $317 million
3. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End: $303 million
4. Transformers: $186 million
5. Knocked Up: $134 million
6. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer: $125 million
7. Ratatouille: $124 million
8. Ocean’s Thirteen: $110 million

For the calendar year to this point: #1 through #3 is what you see above for the summer: Spider-Man 3, Shrek the Third and Pirates: At World’s End. #4 is 300, but that will soon get overtaken by #5 Transformers.
#6 is Wild Hogs. #7 through #9 is Knocked Up, Silver Surfer and Ratatouille. #10 — and never deny the box office power of Will Ferrell — is currently Blades of Glory.
